Marcelo is a smart boy, attends third class in Chile and enjoys going to school. Normally, he is very talkative and makes jokes, but this changes when the headmaster introduces the Danish girl Maline to the class who does not speak any Spanish. Marcelo is fascinated by her but he is too shy to say “hello” or play with her. One day, when they have to create animal masks in the art class he helps her out with material and finds a way to communicate with her. But then, all of a sudden, the whole school building is shaken by an earthquake. Earthquakes are very common in Chile – but they are something new for Maline. She is in shock and does not leave the classroom with the other kids. Can Marcelo convince her to leave?
